MoU signed for initial environmental examination

Pokhara University (PU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for undertaking comprehensive Initial Environment Examination for the construction of its 100-bed teaching hospital at Pokhara metropolis-30, Khudi, Dhungepatan.

The MoU to this effect was signed by University Registrar Dr Deepak Bahadur Bhandari and Managing Director of Shrestha Consultant Pvt Ltd, Lalitpur Indra Lal Shrestha, shared Information Officer of the University, Lok Prasad Dhakal.

The environment audit would identify environmental impact in physical, bio-diversity, social, economic, public health and cultural aspects of the local level with analysis. Besides, the environment examination also helps explore potentials of the area.

The study report would be focused on lessening the negative impacts and is expected to reap benefits to the local people in terms of socio-economic and health aspects.

It would take four months to complete the IEE. The University has solicited bidding as part of its plan to utilize the hostel as a 100-bed hospital until the construction of its permanent building. ---
