The Supreme Court Bar Association has determined the names of Amicus Curiae to help the court with the case on whether the Chief Justice should continue to lead the Constitutional Bench.
A meeting of the SC Bar Association held on Monday decided to send senior advocates Rabi Narayan Khanal and Purna Man Shakya as the amicus curiae, said SC Bar Association member Bikas Bhattarai.
A single bench of justice Hari Prasad Phunyal had on September 2 issued an interim order not to conduct hearing immediately over a case related to the appointments made by the constitutional council.
The Supreme Court had issued an interim order not to conduct hearing on the case related to ordinance until the finalization of the dispute. The SC had issued an order to present amicus curiae--two senior advocates each from Supreme Court and SC Bar Association, keeping the significance of the constitutional issue in mind.
As per the order, SC Bar Association decided to send Khanal and Shakya. Advocate Dr Ganesh Regmi had filed a writ demanding an order to allow the Chief Justice to continue in constitutional bench during the hearing on the case related to the constitutional council, that also includes the Chief Justice.
