Leaders and cadres of main opposition Nepali Congress have on Saturday staged a demonstration in Birgunj demanding waiving of taxes during lockdown.
They with placards in hands chanted slogans at Aadhrshanagar. The demonstration was led by NC Parsa constituency 1. On the occasion, NC, Parsa president Ajaya Kumar Dwivedi urged the government to play a guardian role at this time of COVID-19 crisis by removing taxes on electricity bills and bank interests as lockdown has affected lives of people and their social and financial situation.
There is a need for the government to provide reliefs to the people affected by lockdown, he said. He also warned of strictly protesting the government’s decision to impose taxes during this crisis.
