NC’s 10 youth leaders call for fair practices in party

Ten youth leaders of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) have asked the party leadership to end the situation where the party cadres remain unsafe from the party leadership itself.

Hinting at the disputes over the party’s active membership and ongoing pressure piling programmes, the youth leaders have drawn attention of the party’s top leadership to bring an end to the situation to stage sit-in and demonstrate in the party for the cause of justice.

Issuing a joint statement today, the youth leaders have raised concerns to the ongoing developments and activities being carried out in the preliminary preparations of the party’s 14th general convention.

The leaders issuing press statement include Dr Chandra Bhandari, Dhanraj Gurung, Kamala Pant, Ratna Sherchan, Gagan Thapa, Badri Pandey, Gururaj Ghimire, Sarita Prasain, Ram Krishna Yadav and Kiran Yadav.

They have also urged to ensure the general convention of the party by immediately resolving the dispute on party membership. “Basically, the disputes in regard to the active members who remain as the primary voters of the party general convention have raised doubts over the general convention taking place on time. We have no comfortable time and the available time is also being limited. It does not sound good to continue the dispute of active members in such a time. Any of the acts to be done by going against the party process, norms and central committee’s decisions won’t bode well to anyone,” read the statement of the leaders.

NC’s leaders have been staging sit-in and fast unto death at the party central office in Sanpea over the dispute of active members from different districts.
