Nepali Congress has said the party’s 14th general convention would be organised in the stipulated time. Earlier, the party had announced to conduct the general convention on February 19, 2021.
However, there would be slight changes in the schedule for party’s other conventions, it has been said. The meeting of NC’s former and sitting office bearers took a decision in this regard, said party’s chief secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel.
NC has called its central committee meeting on June 30 to endorse the decision. Its central committee meeting on January 27 had scheduled conventions of sectors under the party and party 14th general convention on February 19.
Likewise, the schedule to distribute and renew party’s membership to party’s new active members scheduled from the Nepali month of Falgun, 2075 BS and Chaitra, 2076 BS had been affected by the infection.
NC’s 13th general convention was organised in Kathmandu on March 3-6, 2016. The time period for party’s 14th general convention has already been extended by one year as per party’s statute.
Meanwhile, NC’s central committee meeting is scheduled for June 30 at 1:00 pm. The meeting to be held at party’s central office in Sanepa is said to discuss the schedule to convene party’s 14th general convention and other conventions affected by the infection. The meeting of party’s former and sitting office bearers on Sunday decided in this regard.
