The Women and Social Development Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR) has drawn the government’s attention to ensure top priority to the gender sensitivity in the upcoming budget for the fiscal year 2077/078 BS.
At the Committee’s meeting held on Friday, the lawmakers consulted with the officials from the National Planning Commission, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration over ‘gender responsive budget: principle and practices.’
Likewise, discussions were held regarding the complaints received to the Committee over the confusions on social security allowances and the impacts on the recipients. Stating that gender responsive budget was the foundation of the overall development of the developing countries, the lawmakers suggested focus on equitable perspective, imagining equality.
They also emphasized the need for more gender responsive budget in the time of the global pandemic and necessary coordination for the same.
