Five members of the same family have been killed when their house collapsed in a remote village of Salyan District in western Nepal Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.
A 40-year-old man, his wife aged 35, his two daughters aged six and seven respectively, and a four-year-old son were killed after their house at Setogurans in Bagachaur Municipality collapsed due to landslides triggered by incessant rainfalls, Birendra Bahadur Shahi, police chief of Salyan, told Xinhua.
"The wall of their house collapsed when the victims were in deep sleep," Shahi said.
The man's other daughter, 11, was injured.
Nepal's Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has been urging people across the country to remain on high alert amid heavy rainfall.
The flood forecasting division has been sending flood warning messages amid the heavy rainfall in different parts of the Himalayan country.
