President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that the Sudur Paschim State was a region rich in art literature culture and language.
Inaugurating the World Literature Festival organised by the Far-western region literary society here today she said the incomparable contribution by local figures such as Pahalman Singh Swanr and Jaya Prithvi Bahadur Singh are special input to the advancement of Nepali language and literature.
Describing Nepali language as one of the developed languages of the world she said the Nepali language was a mode of promoting national unity in the country. Language created by untiring efforts of the mankind is an important medium to establish dialogue.
The President also described literature as the mirror of contemporary society and that the relations between society and literature as very connected. Good literature also points out to the anomalies and aberrations in the society and thereby promotes good conduct and morality.
She expressed the hope that the festival would make an important contribution to the promotion of Nepali language literature and culture and help give Nepal and Nepalis a special identity in the world map. The academic centres needs to be strengthened as they promote and support the development of language and literature.
