Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the new generation should be acquainted with the history of glorious civilisation and cultures of the nation.
Addressing the 70th Democracy Day Main Organising Committee meeting today, the PM said that democracy ensures a civilised society that is held responsible to the present and accountable to the future. But, anarchy is not acceptable.
Stressing to preserve the positive sides of our civilisation, PM urged one and all to duly respect the ancestors. Recalling the leadership of Prithvi Narayan Shah for the nation's unification, PM Oli added that the glorious history of the nation was created from the untiring efforts of Nepalis.
"During the time, Kalu Pandey was chopped off and his son Damodar Pandey too. Bhimsen Thapa was killed by slitting his throat and his father Amar Singh Thapa was lost being stranded. We should not forget the country's history that was made from the warriors' sweat and blood," he recalled the nation's history.
Asking all not to neglect and ignore the history and the ancestors' contribution, PM Oli said, "We are the descendants of scholars and brave ancestors. So, let's learn to take pride over our history."
PM Oli also wished for the Dipawali in every house on the Democracy Day and suggested the local levels, wards, schools and organisations to celebrate the Democracy Day.
According to the PM, 2007 BS is not just a date but a special moment of the social changes. This ushered Nepal to the modern day from a dark age, he said.
