Air India says Friday there are no bedbugs in its aircraft after some passengers recently complained that they saw insects crawling on seats.
The airline said in a tweet Thursday that "no bedbugs were found after thorough checking" of seats, laundry facilities and fumigation of aircraft following bug bite complaints from passengers on some flights.
"These unfortunate reports are the first of its kind in our legacy of flying generations of satisfied pax (passengers)," it said.
India's loss making national carrier was stung by bad publicity as images showing bed bugs on business class seats went viral in the social media in July.
One of the passengers on a Newark-Mumbai flight complained of suffering from bug bites during the 17-hour journey.
