The second global health conference of the Non-resident Nepali Association (NRNA) concluded on Sunday adopting a 26-point Global Nepali Health Declaration.

The conference that kicked off on Friday held a thorough discussion on the declaration with inputs and deliberations of experts and stakeholders. NRNA Health Committee Chair Dr Sanjeeb Sapkota shared that the declaration would be enriched incorporating necessary contents suggested by the theme experts.

“Several experts, health workers and stakeholders have provided their inputs and feedback. We would reckon their deliberations to enrich the declaration”, he added.

Dr Sapkota further shared that the declaration as an outcome document of the conference has made an attempt to bring together the Nepali health workers across the globe.

Likewise the declaration has included several issues including mutual collaborative roles of health workers. It has laid emphasis on the formation of a global network of Nepali nurses and psychiatric disease specialists.

The document has also placed emphasis on the production and development of herbal medicines besides the health issues related to maternal-child, children, adolescent and youth.

Among other points incorporated in the declaration are the formation of a committee of health workers for disaster response and chronic diseases, unity among health workers for public awareness and coordination among all international organizations, government, non-government and local levels.

As many as 200 health workers, experts and stakeholders participated in the second global health conference. —
