One more COVID-19 fatality reported in BPKIHS

The Dharan-based B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) has reported a new COVID-19 death on Sunday night.

An elderly man infected with Coronavirus and was undergoing treatment at COVID-19 Hospital inside the BPKIHS succumbed to the flu-like infection at around 11 pm, informed BPKHIS’s spokesperson Dr Ashish Shrestha.

Dr Shrestha shared the 89-year-old was admitted to the Hospital on October 9. He was also suffering from high blood pressure.

With this, the number of COVID-19 fatality in the BPKIHS reaches 50. On Sunday morning, two COVID-19 patients had lost their lives to the deadly infection.

A team from the Nepal Army was going to manage the dead body of the elderly, according to Shrestha.

Meanwhile, a primary health post at Barahachettra Municipality in Sunsari district has been shut down after three of its six health workers contracted COVID-19. All the infected ones were undergoing treatment.

The health services in the Health Post have been adversely affected since Sunday. The health post has been shut down until further notice, informed Health Post’s chief Dr Anil Giri.

Dr Giri said that infected was detected among the health workers when their nasal and throat swabs were collected and tested.

Public from Belaka Municipality in Udayapur district, Shahidbhumi RuralMunicipality in Dhankuta district and some parts of Hatuwagadhi Municipality in Bhojpur district were availing healthcare services from this health post.
