The opposition camp has criticized President Park Geun-hye's nomination of Kookmin University Professor Kim Byong-joon as the new prime minister.
Main opposition Democratic Party Chairwoman Choo Mi-ae said Wednesday that the personnel decision will wreak havoc on the current political situation.
During a general meeting of lawmakers at the National Assembly immediately after the nomination announcement, Choo said the president has formed the second "Choi Soon-sil Cabinet." The chairwoman said now is the time to go back to square one and rethink the situation.
The opposition chief then criticized that all that the president has done after causing the current situation was issue a 90-second apology and appoint another political prosecutor as the new senior legal secretary.
