Opposition Rejects Park’s Proposal of New Prime Minister

nepalnewsgazette.com November 8, 2016     Comment Closed     General

Opposition parties have rejected the president's latest proposal for appointing a prime minister recommended by the parliament.

Floor Leaders of the main opposition Democratic Party and the minor opposition People's Party said Tuesday it's still not sufficiently clear how much powers and authority President Park will hand over to the prime minister.

Democratic Party spokesman Ki Dong-min told reporters that the party will not immediately respond to Park's proposal because Park's remarks were vague, and require follow-up.

People's Party Floor Leader Park Jie-won described Park's proposal as just a move to buy time.
