Pandey couple buried to death in landslide

Two members of a family died when a landslide buried their house in Siranchowk Rural Municipality-7, Upper Gohorey. Police confirmed that the landslide occurred above the house this morning left 80-year-old Raman Pandey and his 70-year-old wife Nanda Kumari Pandey dead.

The landslide fully buried Pandey’s one-storied house rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake, DSP of District Police Office, Gorkha, Prakash Dahal shared.

Though locals tried to rescue the Pandey couple, they could only recover the lifeless bodies after four hours of the incident, he informed. A team of police from the Area Police Office Jaubari along with locals took out the bodies from landslide debris.

Meanwhile, a youth swept away by Fungi rivulet of Arughat Rural Municipality-3 was rescued today. Locals rescued Kiran Lama, 26, of Arughat-1, Shyamchet, police said.
