Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Shivamaya Tumbahangfe, held discussion with leaders and chief whips of the political parties representing in the parliament. During the meeting, they suggested the government that it focused on prevention, control and treatment of corona virus.
They also pointed out the need of effective coordination among three layers of government for containing the COVID-19. Ruling party chief whip Dev Gurung suggested special initiative to prevent and control the COVID-19 as the measures so far are not adequate. Purchase of health equipment, speedy test for coronavirus and tight security on border must be prioritized, he added.
Similarly, NC Chief Whip Balkrishna Khand said first priority should be on controlling coronavirus so that development activities can be accelerated next year.
Rastriya Janata Party Chief Whip Laxman Lal Karna and Whip of Socialist Party Umashankar Argariya made aware the government about the hardship faced by those in isolation. The party discrimination must end while distributing relief materials, they stressed.
NCP’s National Assembly Chief Whip Khim Lal Bhattarai said every local level needs to have the quarantine having capacity to accommodate 1,000 persons.
Similarly, National Assembly member of NCP Dinanath Sharma said the Nepalis willing to come home from abroad must be brought home and provided smooth management to prevent and control COVID-19.
After receiving the leaders’ views, Minister Tumbahangfe said he would relay their demands to the government and the COVID-19 control high level committee.
