People’s representative arrested for sexual abuse

Chairperson of ward no. 3 in Manebhanjyang rural municipality in the district, Medal Rai has been arrested on the charge of sexually assaulting a local woman. Rai was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by the woman, who has alleged that Rai come to her home under the influence of alcohol and committed the crime.

The incident reportedly took place four days ago and efforts were made to reconcile at the local level itself. However, Rai was arrested after a written complaint of rape was filed against him, said Chief of District Police Office Rupesh Khadka. Investigation into the incident is underway following a court order.
