Petition filed demanding safer air transport

npadmin February 3, 2023     Comment Closed     General

A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court on Friday demanding an order to amend the necessary safety standards related to air traffic safety.

The writ petition filed by senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi calls for an order to the concerned authorities to review and revise the existing laws, policies and air safety standards related to air transport operations.

Advocate Tripathi also argues that there is a need to revise the standards as the air transport sector is not safe with the current air traffic safety regulations.

The writ petition also demands formation of a high-level committee consisting of experts to review the existing laws, regulations as well as safety standards and to create a permanent mechanism to monitor whether the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) have been followed.
