Preparations on for int’l Buddhist conference

nepalnewsgazette.com February 17, 2020     Comment Closed     Key Issues

The government is going to organise International Buddhist Conference from coming May 5 to 7 in Lubmini.

Chairman of the Conference Main Organising Committee and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai chaired a preparatory meeting at the ministry for the conference that coincides with the 2564th Buddha Jayanti.

During the meeting, Minister Bhattarai said that Nepal's image would go up if more and more issues about Lubmini and Buddha were discussed. He was of the view that the conference should be linked with Visit Nepal Year, 2020.

The government has developed an international level world peace meditation centre that can accommodate as many as 5,000 people, where the event would be organised.

Top leaders and representatives from different countries across the world would be invited for their participation in the conference, it is said.

Nepal is organising such International Buddhist Conference at the interval of every two years since 2016.
