The Supreme Court hosted a function to mark the Law Day here today. The programme was held in the presence of President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

President Bhandari, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota and Acting Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Karki were present on the occasion.

Also present on the occasion were Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Govinda Prasad Sharma Koirala, judges of the Supreme Court, Chief Justice of the High Court, district judges and security chiefs.

On the occasion, President Bhandari felicitated former Justices Hari Prasad Sharma, Dilip Kumar Poudel, Min Bahadur Rayamajhi and Anupraj Sharma. Four former chief justices and 11 judges were honored on the occasion.

It may be noted that Baisakh 26 in the Lunar Calendar is celebrated every year as Law Day to commemorate the day the Supreme Court Act 2008 BS came into force in Nepal.
