President Bidya Devi Bhandari has sent a message of condolences to the Chinese President Xi Jinping on the passing away of former President Jiang Zemin.

In her message sent on Thursday, President Bhandari said that in the demise of former President Jiang Zemin, Nepal has lost a true and distinguished friend. She has recalled the state visit to Nepal by late President Jiang Zemin in 1996 that contributed to further strengthening of close friendship and cooperation between Nepal and China.

Similarly, in his condolence message to the Chinese Premier, Li Keqiang, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that late President Jiang Zemin was a great friend and well-wisher of Nepal.

PM Deuba also recalled the contribution made by late President Jiang Zemin to consolidate and nurture the longstanding bond of cordiality, friendship, and cooperation between Nepal and China, stated a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thurday.
