Floor Leader Chung Jin-suk of the ruling Saenuri Party has called on the presidential office to bring home President Park Geun-hye's close confidant Choi Soon-sil and her family, who are known to be staying abroad.
Chung said on Wednesday during a meeting of party members at the National Assembly that the ruling bloc will make sure Choi is investigated by the prosecution.
The floor leader said that the people will not be able to trust the prosecutors' investigation if it is overseen by Presidential Civil Affairs Secretary Woo Byung-woo, calling on Woo to immediately step down.
He also called for a complete reshuffle of the presidential staff and the Cabinet.
Chung said his party will take all necessary measures to punish those related and find details of Choi's alleged involvement in state affairs.
