Prime Minister, Rt. Honourable Mr. K P Sharma Oli took briefings from Europe-based Nepali Ambassadors here in Geneva today. Nepali Ambassadors stationed in Berlin, Moscow, London, Vienna, Brussels, Copenhagen, Geneva, Paris and Charge d'Affairs in Madrid made brief presentation on the ongoing activities, highlighting major achievements, challenges and future courses of action of their respective Embassies and Permanent Missions. The briefing concluded with the Prime Minister's instructions to the Ambassadors to streamline their actions towards contributing to the overarching agenda of 'prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.
Hon. Foreign Minister Mr. Pradeep Kumar Gyawali spoke on the occasion while Foreign secretary Mr. Shanker Das Bairagi moderated the briefing program. Hon. Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Mr. Gokarna Raj Bista, Chief Political Advisor to the Prime Minister Mr. Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr. Rajan Bhattarai, Senior Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the officials from the Permanent Mission of Nepal in Geneva were present at the briefing program.
Prime Minister also visited CERN (Counseil Europeen Pour la Recherche Nucleaire), a European Centre for Nuclear Research and world-renowned High-Energy Particle Physics Laboratory in Geneva this afternoon. The Prime Minister was received by the head of international relations department, scientists & research scholars and senior management of the CERN. The Prime Minister was briefed about the research works undertaken by various departments of the institution before inspecting Atlas laboratory at the CERN.
The Prime Minister also addressed a tourism promotion program organized in the French City of Chamonix-Mont Blanc, as the part of the celebration of the 70th Anniversary of Nepal-France diplomatic relations yesterday. The Prime Minister drew comparisons to the relations between France and Nepal with the heights of Mont Blanc, the highest peak of the Europe and the Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world. While expressing deep concerns over the impacts of climate change to the mountain ecology, the Prime Minister stated that Nepal will host the first Sagarmatha Dialogue under the theme of Climate Change within this year.
Miss Nepal 2018 Ms. Shrinkhala Khatiwada, was introduced as the 70th anniversary goodwill ambassador of Nepal-France diplomatic relations at the program. The Mayor of Chamonix-Mont Blanc Municipality Mr. Eric Fournier, French ambassador to Nepal H.E. Mr. Francois-Xavier Leger, distinguished mountaineers, and friends of Nepal were presented at the program. From Nepali side, the Prime Minister was accompanied by the Foreign Minister Hon. Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Chief Political Advisor Mr. Bishnu Rimal, Foreign Affairs Advisor Dr. Rajan Bhattarai, Foreign Secretary Mr. Shanker Das Bairagi, Ambassador / Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations Office in Geneva H. E. Mr. Mani Prasad Bhattarai, Ambassador of Nepal to France H. E. Mr. Deepak Adhikari and other high officials in the bilateral meetings.
The Prime Minister departed to Kathmandu in the evening. The Prime Minister and his entourage were seen off at VVIP Lounge of Geneva International Airport by Ambassador / Permanent Representative H. E. Mr. Mani Prasad Bhattarai and other high officials of the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva.
