Prime Minister Deuba meets President of Sri Lanka

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba held bilateral talks with President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa during a sideline meeting here today. The two leaders are currently here to attend a two-day summit of world leaders under the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-26).

During the meeting, Foreign Secretary Bharatraj Poudyal told RSS that the two leaders discussed about deepening the good relations between the two countries. Issues related to exchanging cooperation in the field of education and strengthening bilateral culture were also discussed.

On the occasion, Sri Lankan President Rajapaksa expressed his desire to set up a 30-bed hospital in Lumbini and wished for Nepal’s goodwill to his proposal.

Likewise, they discussed issues related to the promotion of tourism in both the countries and the strengthening of relations and the continuation of dialogue at a high level.

Prime Minister Deuba arrived in the United Kingdom on Friday night, leading a Nepali delegation to attend the conference. The COP-26, which started in Glasgow,Scotland on October 31, will continue till November 12.

The Nepali delegation includes Minister for Forests and Environment Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, secretaries of various ministries, senior government officials and media personnel.
