Prosecutors are adding Samsung to their short list of massive jaebeol facing questioning in the Choi Soon-sil influence peddling scandal.

Following its probe of Lotte and SK, investigators want to know more about more than 20 billion won in donations Samsung gave via its affiliates to the Mir and K-Sports Foundations Choi is accused of using as fronts for personal spending.

They are questioning an executive director from the group's Future Strategy Office, identified by his surname Kim, who is known to have been involved in working level affairs of the donations.

Prosecutors are trying to trace how Samsung first got involved in the fundraising and whether former presidential secretary Ahn Chong-bum or any other top presidential officials were connected to the process.
