Association of Community Radio Broadcasters' (ACORAB) Nepal is going to organize National Consultation on Indigenous People in Community Broadcasting on 24-25 May 2019 in Hile, Dhankuta. Approximately 200 participants from selected community radio stations, executive board member of ACORAB, policy makers, representatives from development partners, representatives of CSO networks related to indigenous people, local government representatives, academics and thematic experts on community media and indigenous people will also participate in the conference.
Different thematic session on indigenous movement and role of community radio will be held. Different discussion and interaction will be held on opportunity, challenges, issues and problem related to role of community radios for overall development of indigenous people and to pave the way for sustaining community radios and community radio movement for indigenous people in Nepal.
The best practices on promotion of equality and good initiations carried out by the media and community radios will be shared in the program. New approaches and ideas will be explored and discussed to reshape the community broadcasting priority in future. Participants of the program will be discussed for effective communication for promotion of culture and language of indigenous people and incorporation of the messages in community radio contents. The participants will also discuss on why community radio should give the priority in the issues of indigenous people and how participation and ownership of those group can be enhanced. At the last of the program Hile declaration and action plan will be promulgated.
