Prosecution Raids Samsung Electronics over Choi Soon-sil Scandal

nepalnewsgazette.com November 8, 2016     Comment Closed     Games

The prosecution raided the headquarters of Samsung Electronics in Seoul's Seocho district on Tuesday as part of its investigation into the expanding Choi Soon-sil scandal.

The prosecution's special investigation team searched the offices of the company's external affairs division and other related departments since 6:40 a.m. The team is said to have secured documents related to the Korea Equestrian Federation(KEF) as suspicions swirl that Samsung was a "corporate sponsor" of Choi's dressage athlete daughter Chung Yoo-ra.

The prosecution has been investigating allegations that Samsung extended about three-point-five billion won to a company now known as Widec Sports established by Choi and her daughter.

In the latest raid, prosecutors also targeted the office of Samsung Electronics President Park Sang-jin, who currently serves as the president of the Korea Equestrian Federation.
