Punish those taking law in hand on Paschim Rukum case: NC

Web Desk May 26, 2020     No Comment     General

The major opposition Nepali Congress has demanded that the government take stringent action following a fair investigation into the gruesome murder that occurred in Paschim Rukum. Racial discrimination is punishable by law, but repetition of such horrible crimes even after the introduction of new constitution is worrying, the NC said, adding that Paschim Rukum murder is a heinous violence perpetrated against Dalit community.

Issuing a press release on Tuesday, NC Spokesperson Bishwoprakash Sharma demanded that those behind the murder be brought to book. “If the local administration had taken action on time to obstruct a group of youths visiting the next district during the lockdown, such horrific incident could be obviated. NC’s attention is drawn towards the absence of the State while such crime was perpetrated. The federal government must come up with its view on it,” Sharma stressed. In the press release, he further said the party has got the signal that entire society was being tarnished and those involved in attack getting condoned.

He however said anyone with the narrow mindset of racial discrimination and involved in the attack against youths must be brought to book. NC demands utmost punishment to them, he added.

The NC has also wished eternal peace to the departed souls of those killed in the incident- Nawaraj BK, Tikaram Sunar and Ganesh Budhamagar and speedy recovery of those injured in the attack. Similarly, it also urged the government to intensify the search of those missing reportedly in the Bheri River.
