The National Planning Commission (NPC) Vice-Chairperson Dr Bishwanath Poudel has said this was right opportunity for the country to increase domestic production by discouraging the imports.

At an interaction programme organised by the Association of Pharmaceutical Producers of Nepal here Saturday, Dr Poudel insisted on increasing domestic productions at a time when the government was trying to augment foreign reserve.

Poudel made such views after the pharmaceutical producers demanded that the import of drugs be banned in Nepal citing sufficient productions within the country. Dr Poudel also invited the pharmaceutical producers for serious talks with detailed information regarding this issue.

He, however, said some of the tasks of the government were not completed in time due to brain drain of the technical human resources.

The interaction programme was organised on the sideline of the Nepal Pharma Expo-2022. The Expo started on Friday is ending on Sunday.
