Former Minister and RastriyaPrajatantra Party (RPP) leader Sunil BahadurThapa has joined the Nepali Congress (NC) amid a function here today.

Over a dozen of central leaders including Thapa quit the RPP and jointed NC amid a programme organized at the NC central office Sanepa in the capital today.  NC President SherBahadurDeuba and other central leaders welcomed Thapa to the party.

President Deuba has nominated leader Thapa as a joint secretary of the NC.  In his welcome remarks, NC President Deuba said his party was championing a mission to unite democratic forces as the anti-democratic activities are on the rise of late.  He also urged the new comers to work to strengthen democratic force by giving up narrow thinking.

Similarly, NC senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel argued leader Thapa joined the Nepali Congress to strengthen the democracy when RPP was united to serve the irrelevant agenda of restoring monarchy in the country.

While joining the new party, leader Thapa shared he was pleased to join the party with democratic credentials as it was an era of democracy.  He said, “Democratic forces should be united as Nepal was getting isolated from the international community.”

Leaders BrijaLalYadav, Ram Krishna Bhattarai, BaburamBasnet, DilipRai, BishnuBikramThapa, RajyaLaxmi Shrestha, Chaturman BK, PratimaRanaKshetri and Dr Suresh Basnet among others joined NC today. ———
