Narayan Dhungana, journalist associated with the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), has been honoured with 'Narayan Bahadur Singh Memorial Fine Arts Journalism Award, 2078'.

Dhungana was awarded in recognition of his contributions towards the development of fine arts through journalism. The award carries a purse of Rs 11,111.

Established by the Society of Fine Art Journalists—Sofaj Nepal, in memory of journalist Narayan Bahadur Singh, the award is distributed every year to those contributing to the development of fine arts.

Similarly, editor of 'Madhupark' magazine Jayadev Bhattarai was honoured with the 'Sofaj-Fine Arts Journalism Award'. Also, journalist Sushila Tamang, who works for Kantipur daily, was awarded the 'Laxmi Maya Kumale Memorial Fine Arts Journalism Award'. Both the awards carry a cash prize of Rs 11,111 each.

Distributing the awards, Vice Chancellor of the Kathmandu University Prof Dr Bhola Thapa argued that art should be for the sake of people's lives, not for itself.
