Ruling Party Decides to Seek Independent Counsel on Choi Scandal

nepalnewsgazette.com October 26, 2016     Comment Closed     Fashion, General

The ruling Saenuri Party has decided to bring in a special independent counsel to investigate mounting allegations surrounding Choi Soon-sil, a close confidant of President Park Geun-hye.

During a party meeting on Wednesday, Saenuri members unanimously agreed on the move proposed by Floor Leader Chung Jin-suk.

Chung told reporters afterwards that his party will propose launching related talks on the issue with opposition parties.

With the ruling party's decision, a special independent probe into the widening Choi scandal will likely be launched in the near future as the opposition has also been pressing for an independent counsel.
