The ruling Saenuri Party is sending a delegation to the United States to establish contact with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
Party spokesman Yeom Dong-yeol said on Monday during a news briefing that the delegation plans on meeting with key officials of Trump's transition team and figures who will likely be in charge of his administration's policy on the Korean Peninsula.
They will set up contact through channels like the Foreign Ministry and the South Korean Embassy in the U.S.
The delegation will be led by former Saenuri Floor Leader Won Yoo-chul and include Representative Kim Young-woo, who heads the parliamentary defense committee, and Kim Chang-joon, a former member of the U.S. Congress, among others.
The delegation will visit the U.S. from November 20th to early December.
