The ruling Saenuri Party says President Park Geun-hye's nomination of a new prime minister and other Cabinet members is an appropriate move during this time of a political crisis.
Party Spokesman Kim Sung-won said in a statement Wednesday that the Cabinet reshuffle reflects the president's strong determination to normalize state management.
Kim expressed expectations that the Cabinet reshuffle will be an occasion that significantly helps resolve the current national crisis. He then asked the opposition camp to support the new nominations.
The spokesman said that prime minister nominee Kim Byong-joon, with his extensive experiences and insight, is the right choice to lead the Cabinet. The nominee served as chief presidential secretary for national policy and the deputy prime minister for education during the liberal Roh Moo-hyun administration.
