Rural Municipality Chairperson assaulted

Chairperson of Khaniyabas Rural Municipality, Rana Bahadur Tamang, was assaulted at Bachchhala.

A group of people attacked on Tamang, also the Nepali Congress (NC) Province Constituency President in course of a discussion held to recommend the ward chairperson ticket from the party.

Chairperson Tamang said a group led by NC cadre Raju Pakhrin had attacked him when discussion regarding ticket recommendation was underway.

Pakhrin and Tamang had been engaged in a dispute regarding ward-3 ticket recommendation from the party.

Injured Tamang is undergoing treatment at Satyadevi Health Post. Police arrested Pakhrin last night. Investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
