The Human Rights and Peace Society (HURPES) has launched 'Save the Himalayas, Save the River' campaign. An awareness rally and corner meet has been held in Beni, Baglung and Parbat Kushma of Myagdi on Friday as part of the campaign launched from Gorkha to raise awareness about climate change and global warming.

The campaign would be launched in 21 districts under the slogan 'Quality Health Care and Scientific Education: Everyone's Right', said Ram Krishna Baral, general secretary of the society.

According to Baral, the team will return to Jomsom, Muktinath and Korla transit of Mustang after passing through Syangja, Palpa, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Taulihawa, Bhairahawa, Sunwal, Bardaghat and Gaindakot. According to the society, leaflets distribution, street rallies and corner meetings on the impact of global warming and mitigation measures will be held in all the locations.

The president of HURPES, Govinda Khanal, said that the people should be vigilant to protect the mountains connected with human life and the river connected with civilization.
