SC seeks written response from govt. for not submitting reports on time

The Supreme Court has sought a written response from the government on its failure to submit the report on time as per the international conventions and treaties related to human rights. A single bench of Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada on Monday issued a show cause order in the name of the Government of Nepal, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, National Human Rights Commission and others concerned to submit written reply within 15 days.

The Supreme Court issued the show cause order with priority in response to the writ petition filed seeking clear law, reporting with policy mandate and establishment of follow-up mechanism to fulfill the international human rights obligations as per ratification of various international treaties and conventions.

Founder Chairperson of Justice and Rights (Jury Nepal) Advocate Raju Prasad Chapagain and others had filed the writ petition at the Supreme Court on April 28.
