The season's first frost and ice were reported in Seoul on Sunday as morning temperatures fell sharply.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said that the first frost and ice this fall were also spotted in Suwon, Chuncheon and Daejeon.

The first frost in Seoul comes four days later than previous years.

Temperatures fell below the freezing point in the central inland areas Sunday with morning lows dipping to minus four degrees Celsius in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province and one-point-six degrees in Seoul.

Morning lows in the southern areas also slipped to five-point-nine degrees Celsius in Gwangju and six-point-eight degrees in Daegu.

The weather agency forecast the mercury will drop to minus one degree Celsius in Seoul on Tuesday morning and the cold snap will let up later this week.
