‘Shreeyantra’ is Nepal’s cultural symbol: President Bhandari

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said the facets of the 'Shreeyantra' by architect and designer of national flag of the country, Shankar Nath Rimal, are evident proofs of oriental philosophy.

The architectural designs are country's cultural assets, President Bhandari said, adding that 'Shreeyantra', the creation by designer Rimal, is a result of thorough research.

President Bhandari said it during a programme organized by Sashi-Shankar Art School at President's office, Shitalniwas on Saturday. With the tradition that the religious and cultural heritages including Pashupatinath Temple and Taleju Bhawani Temple are decorated with Shreeyantra, it is clear that Shreeyantra is a cultural symbol, she reminded.

According to her, writer Rimal has blended ancient religion and modern engineering. The intellectual debates on the books encourage the writers, she believed.

Commenting on the book Swami Ramanand Giri said Shreeyantra is the symbol of Shiva and power. It is the major form of creation, existence and destruction. Shreeyantra is worshipped since the Rigved era. Writer Rimal's finding of geometrical ratio with the use of Shreeyantra in years is rewarding, he observed.
