A solo photo exhibition related to Bisket Jatra (Biska) put on by Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS)'s photo journalist Ratna Krishna Shrestha has kicked off at Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) today.
The three-day exhibition displays over 100 photos of Bisket Jatra and other festivities being observed in Madhyapur Thimi. The photos depict various aspects of those festivals such as beginning, full-on celebration and ending.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) mayor Bidyasundar Shakya and Madhyapur Thimi mayor Madan Sundar Shrestha jointly inaugurated the exhibition. Mayor Shakya called for one and all to join hands to protect tangible and intangible heritages for the future generation.
"KMC is working towards conserving the heritages. The heritages belong to us and thus we all should preserve and conserve them,' asserted Shakya.
He viewed that unique traditions and customs of Nepal and traditional processions should be introduced to the world and also be linked with tourism.
Similarly, another mayor Shrestha shed light on the historic, religious and cultural aspects of Bisket Jatra and appealed the visitors to visit Madhyapur Thimi to observe processions like Bisket Jatra.
