Harvard University has ranked number one in the world among one-thousand universities in 65 countries this year.
U.S. News and World Report, a publisher of education analysis and related studies, revealed the assessment in its annual Best Global Universities ranking unveiled on Tuesday.
Harvard topped the list with a perfect score of 100 points followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley.
The U.S. agency evaluated the schools based on 12 indicators, including global and regional research reputation and academic research performance.
A total of 29 South Korean schools made the list, including Seoul National University(SNU) which ranked 119th, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology which came in at 187th and Sungkyunkwan University which placed 236th.
SNU, which was evaluated to be the ninth best university in Asia, received high scores in the areas of pharmacology and toxicology, materials science and chemistry.
Japan's University of Tokyo ranked 44th on the list, marking the highest placement among universities in Asia.
