Iraqi Special Forces continued to deploy around Mosul suburbs on Tuesday ahead of a push to retake the city from the ISIS.
The Mosul operation is expected to be the most complex yet for Iraq's military.
ISIS (ISIL, IS, Daesh) terrorists have deployed suicide car bombs and fired mortar rounds to slow down the advance of Iraqi troops outside a key town near the militant-held city of Mosul, AP reported.
Major Salam al-Obeidi said the special forces were undertaking cleanup operations on Wednesday in areas retaken from the terrorists to the east of the city.
He said troops had uncovered a vast tunnel network used by ISIS to shuttle fighters and supplies by motorcycle.
