Special Parliament Panel Adopts Plan on Investigating Scandal

nepalnewsgazette.com November 17, 2016     Comment Closed     General

A special parliamentary committee says it will spend the next 60 days probing specifics of the scandal involving President Park Geun-hye's confidante Choi Soon-sil.

The committee announced Thursday it will identify those responsible for enabling Choi's alleged influence peddling and interference in state affairs, and examine ways to prevent incidents like this from happening again.

The committee's working plan emphasizes that nobody, regardless of their affiliation, may refuse to respond to inquiries or requests for documents related to the case.

It also says the separate ongoing prosecution probe or any court trial may not constitute grounds for declining to cooperate with the committee.
