The State-5 government has announced to manage insurance to the working journalists during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting of the State government that took place on Friday decided to this effect considering the disproportionate amount of risks the media persons were exposed to on their duty, according to state government’s Spokesperson and Minister for Planning and Development, Baijanath Chaudhary.
The State government has allocated Rs 490,000 for the journalists’ insurance.
Minister Chaudhary further shared that it would coordinate efforts with Federation of Nepalis Journalists’ State-5 chapter for this.
The meeting also approved the procedure made to conduct the final rites of those persons losing lives to COVID-19. Approval was given for the criteria determined to run and streamline the isolation facilitates in the State to treat the COVID-19 infected persons. Now onwards each local ward will have at least isolation facility.
