Secretary at the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives of State2 Dr Govinda Sharma pledged to resolve the issues relating to the sugarcane farmers in the State.
Secretary Sharma said it during a workshop organized by Nepal Agriculture Research Council (NARC) here Wednesday. According to him, among thoe population engaged in agriculture sector in State 2, the sugar farmers' population makes up 60 per cent.
Stating that the State government was preparing to make a roadmap to develop and promote the sugarcane farming in eight pocket districts, he also informed that the government would promote dairy sector as well.
Similarly, the chiefs of the concerned agencies in the State had presented their actionplan for the current fiscal years.
The participants including scientist Dr Surendra Lal Shrestha demanded that the government became serious towards development of agriculture sector in State2 as the agriculture is the major base for the development here.
