Zambia has accepted refugees from many neighboring countries since the 1960s. The Government of Angola started a local integration project (Note 1) in 2014. Legal residence permit, residence and agriculture for former Angola refugees and Rwanda refugees (Note 2) who do not wish to return to their home countries. We provide land where production can be performed. While this initiative is pioneering in the world, it has problems in implementing projects, supporting livelihoods in resettlement areas, and improving the living environment.
Based on the above background, in this project, resettlement plans and improvement of procedures according to the needs of residents, proposals for livelihood activities centered on agriculture at resettlement sites, and strengthening cooperation between related organizations and infrastructure development Through the implementation of funds mobilization for promotion, we will propose a more effective approach to local integration business and aim to promote the business.

Specific business (planned) In order to promote the local integration of former refugees, we will make plans for resettlement and propose improved approaches to livelihood activities.
(Note 1) Even after the suspension of refugee status, some refugees do not want to return to their home countries because of their resistance to leaving Zambia, which they have been used to for many years, and for political reasons. Angolan refugees announced in 2013 that about 3,500 Rwandan refugees will be targeted for local integration. As a result, Angola and Rwanda refugees were called former refugees.
(Note 2) Based on the Zambian government and UNHCR's Strategic Framework (2014-2016), 1) Granting legal residence permits, 2) Relocation to resettlement areas (infrastructure development, basic services) 3) Implemented by the Ministry of Home Affairs and UNHCR with host community support as the main pillar.
