Tokha records 1300+ COVID-19 cases

The number people testing positive to Corona Virus has crossed 1,300 in Tokha municipality. The tally has reached 1,301 with the addition of 66 new cases on Friday.

All the 11 wards have been infected with the highest in ward no. 8 at 156 and lowest in ward no. 1 at 28 cases. Among the infected, 736 are men and 565 are women. Of the infected, 807 have recovered and returned home from isolation centres.

Likewise, of the 489 active cases, 411 are in home-based isolation and 56 in different hospitals in Kathmandu, according to spokesperson of the municipality Bachhu Raj Basyal. So far, five people have died of the deadly virus in Tokha.

The municipality has established 17-bed isolation centre at the Tokha Chandeswari Primary Health Centre to provide treatment to the infected people. The isolation centre will be upgraded considering the increasing number of new cases, said Mayor Prakash Adhikari. The municipality has also increased the scope of PCR testing. So far, nearly 5000 people have already been tested.

It may be noted that the municipality has decided to give those in home-based isolation after testing positive Rs. 350 per day as allowance.
