Tourism Minister vows to upgrade Dipayal Airport

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale has assured to upgrade the Dipayal Airport, the oldest airport in the Sudurpaschim Province.

Minister Ale said the airport would be upgraded to make it feasible for landing 42-seater plane adding that it would help contribute to bring in more tourists in the touristic sites here. “Budget has been allocated to upgrade the airport, for land acquisition and to construct tower and terminal building. We have done homework to ensure landing of 42-seater plane,” the Minister added. For the upgradation of the airport, a total of Rs 180 million has been allocated.

He also said that a tender bidding process would be commenced soon for the construction works.

Likewise, Minister Ale stated that upgradation of airports in Achham, Bajura, Bajhang, Baitadi and Darchula would be initiated soon while construction of new airport in Dadeldhura would be advanced soon.

According to Minister Ale, the airports which are closed in the Sudurpaschim Province would be maintained to make them ready for the regular flights.
