Vice-president Nanda Bahadur Pun observed Aquaponic farming in Galyang of Syangja district today. He visited the Aquaponic farm run by local resident Om Bahadur Thapa in ward no. 3 of Galyan municipality.
Aquaponics refers to any system that combines conventional aquaculture (raising aquatic animals such as snails fish crayfish or prawns in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment according to Wikipedia.
Thapa shared of learning the unique system of farming through the internet which is being used to farm fish and vegetables at his rooftop. Only pebbles and plastic pipes with water are used in the process.
Vice-president Pun arrived here for an onsite visit of the Kaligandaki A hydropower project dam site and the power house in Beltari.
