The District Administration Office, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta East) has cautioned all the locals residing near the Narayani River that the river crossed the warning level.
The water level in the river crossed the warning level set at Devghat with increasing flow. The Flood Measurement Centre at Devghat showed that the water level in Narayani River was at 7.7 metres at 4:455 pm. Water level in the river beyond 7.3 metres is considered warning level while 9 metre marks the dangerous level.
Chief District Officer Manmaya Bhattarai Pangeni warned that the locals living on river bank area must be cautious till midnight on Sunday since the areas were receiving incessant rainfall.
According to her, a huge flood was likely in Narayani River due to the continuous rainfall. Flood triggered by rainfall has swept away lands at Gaidakot, Devchuli, Kawaswoti among others.
Other rivers in the district could also see flood coming over, she opined, calling for further caution. The CDO assured that the rescue teams were standby for the rescue in case of risks of landslide and flood.
